Solution for additives without PFAS

Preface: PFAS refers to perfluorinated and polyfluoroalkyl substances, characterized by high bond energy carbon fluorine bonds, which endow chemicals with excellent chemical and thermal stability. As a result, they are almost non degradable in natural environments and are facing strict regulation. We will share PFAS free additive solutions to help customers smoothly achieve environmental transformation while ensuring product performance is not affected

1. Technical solutions for replacing fluorine

Fluorine can provide excellent leveling, wetting, defoaming, corrosion resistance and other properties, as well as chemical and thermal stability. The substitution process is an appropriate choice, while meeting environmental policies and achieving performance as close as possible. We offer the following technical solutions:

■  Leveling Technology – Organic Silicon Modified Acrylic Solution (Recommended)

A high-performance organic silicon modified acrylic polymer that meets the requirements of universality and thermal stability, as a new type of additive, exhibits excellent performance in various properties and is a good choice for fluorine free (PFAS free) solutions

■  Recommended products:

Tech-2550 is a highly compatible mirror leveling agent without PFAS, suitable for both water and oil applications. It belongs to the organic silicon modified acrylic ester structure and solves the problem of long and short wave leveling through molecular design. It has become the preferred additive for DOI and PFAS free mirror leveling solutions

● Defoamer technology – fluorine free ultra-low silicon solution (recommended)

The use of ultra-low silicon solution instead of PFAS defoamer is due to the continuous cultivation of advanced organic silicon synthesis technology by Tiger additives for more than 20 years, which enables fluorine free organic silicon polymers to have comparable defoaming performance to PFAS defoamers and good compatibility.

■  Recommended products:

Tech-367N-4 is a highly compatible defoamer that does not contain PFAS. It is a specially optimized fluorine free version based on Tech-367N, which does not contain foam breaking particles and has a defoaming experience similar to that of fluorinated defoamers. The test performance of two-component polyurethane (2K PU) is as follows (0.4% addition amount):

Wet material transparency: Tech-367N-4 is close to PFAS

Dry film transparency: Tech-367N-4 is close to PFAS

Defoamer performance: Tech-367N-4 is close to PFAS

Thick coating defoaming: Tech-367N-4 is close to PFAS
