Tech-367N is a “super efficient defoamer” produced by Tager Additives. By introducing a small amount of incompatible substances (active ingredients only account for 0.0001-0.00001% of the total formula) into the system, the product can effectively destroy and prevent the formation of foam, while maintaining a good compatibility balance with various systems. Can be used in solvent based systems, solvent-free systems, and UV light curing systems.

The characteristics of fast defoaming and wide versatility make it an ideal choice for many slurries, especially in applications that require efficient defoaming without allowing surface defects.

 

The active ingredient of Tech-367N is fluorine modified polysiloxane. Tiger additives introduce fluorinated groups on the polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) chain through chemical modification. This product has excellent dispersibility and, when combined with fluorocarbon chains, has ultra-low surface energy, further enhancing its ability to spread and penetrate bubbles, allowing it to play an efficient role in systems that are difficult to defoam. At the same time, it helps balance compatibility with the system and reduce the risk of side effects such as shrinkage.

2、Application Fields and Scope of Application

Tech-367N defoamer has a “wide range of applications” covering multiple industrial fields:

2.1 Coating industry: including industrial coatings, canned coatings, wood and furniture coatings, automotive coatings, and protective coating systems. Suitable resin systems include chlorinated rubber, two-component polyurethane systems, alkyd/melamine, alkyd and self crosslinking acrylic base materials, etc., with wide versatility.

2.2 Ink: Can be used for various solvent based inks and UV inks to improve ink fluidity and printing quality.

2.3 Adhesive: prevent foam during production and construction, and improve the bonding strength and sealing performance of products.

3. In depth analysis of subsystem performance

We evaluated the comprehensive performance of two structurally similar organic silicon defoamers, Tech-367N and international competitors, in four typical industrial coating systems. The key evaluation indicators include: defoaming/anti foaming performance, compatibility, thick coating adaptability, and comprehensive effect of the board surface. The testing system includes: two-component hydroxy acrylic acid system (2K PU): representing high-end automotive repair paint and industrial topcoat. PU Alkyd resin system: represents general industrial protective paint and wood paint. Epoxy resin system (Epoxy 128): represents heavy-duty anti-corrosion primer and floor paint. Single component system (1K): represents self drying lightweight anti-corrosion coating.

【3.1】Two component hydroxy acrylic acid system (2K PU)

Defoamer performance: The performance of international competitors is completely equivalent to that of Tech-367N, and both are superior to the blank group. Both can quickly and effectively eliminate bubbles generated by mixing, providing excellent construction tolerance.

Compatibility: At this dosage, the compatibility between the two defoamers and the resin is excellent. The transparency and glossiness of the dried paint film have no noticeable difference from the blank group (all no difference from the blank), and no fogging, whitening, or turbidity is caused.

Adaptability to thick coating: In the thick coating scenario, both international competitors and Tech-367N exhibit excellent anti foaming ability in the initial state and after 8 hours of standing. The internal permeability of the paint film is good, with very few bubbles, far superior to the blank group. The blank group showed significant bubble accumulation after being left to stand in the thick coating.

Comprehensive effect of board surface: Under the 2K polyurethane testing system, the sample with the addition of international competitors or Tech-367N (0.4% addition) and final film formation maintained transparency in the paint film, and no surface defects such as whitening, shrinkage, or fisheye were observed. This indicates that both defoamers have been very successful in controlling surface defects under conventional construction film thickness, meeting the standard requirements for industrial applications.

Comprehensive evaluation: In the 2K PU system, Tech-367N defoamer has similar performance to international competitors, showing excellent defoaming efficiency and thick coating stability, and does not damage the transparency of the paint film.

Defoamer performance: Consistent with the 2K system, the defoaming effect of international competitors and Tech-367N is highly consistent and effective, both of which can effectively control the bubbles generated after vibration, as well as the microbubbles that may occur in the alcohol acid system due to oxidative polymerization reactions.

Compatibility: Both defoamers exhibit excellent compatibility in the alcohol acid system, and there is no negative difference in the state of the paint film (transparency, gloss) after drying compared to the blank group (both have no difference from the blank).

Comprehensive evaluation: In the alcohol acid system, Tech-367N has once again verified its equivalence with international competitors in core performance (defoaming power, compatibility).

Defoamer performance: In this epoxy system, no significant bubbles were observed on the liquid surface in the blank group, international competitors, and Tech-367N. The system with added defoamers reduces the generation of bubbles, and the main difference in defoaming is in the speed of defoaming. Tech-367N defoamer is comparable to international competitors and has a better effect on removing microbubbles from the system, resulting in faster upward movement of bubbles.

Compatibility: becoming the key distinguishing point of the system. The blank group (without added defoamer) showed the best compatibility. After adding international competitors or Tech-367N defoamers, the compatibility of the paint film decreased, and the degree of decrease was comparable between the two (blank>international competitors ≈ Tech-367N), which effectively suppressed the formation of some bubbles.

Comprehensive evaluation: In the Epoxy Resin 128 system, Tech-367N defoamer and international competitors are effective in removing microbubbles, sacrificing some compatibility in exchange for foam suppression performance. If pursuing the ultimate clarity and surface effect of the paint film, it is necessary to carefully evaluate the necessity of adding or optimize the amount of addition (possibly<0.4%). Both perform equally under this system, without any superiority or inferiority.

Defoamer performance: The defoaming effect of international competitors and Tech-367N defoamer is equivalent again in the 1K system, and both are better than the blank group (international competitors=Tech-367N>Blank).

Compatibility: Both defoamers showed good compatibility in the 1K system, and the transparency and apparent state of the paint film were no different from the blank group (both were no different from the blank).

Comprehensive evaluation: Tech-367N defoamer continues its excellent performance in 2K and alkyd systems in 1K system, and is consistent and reliable with international competitors in defoaming and compatibility.

4.Summary

Comparative experiments have fully demonstrated that the comprehensive performance (defoaming efficiency, compatibility, thick coating performance, and surface defect control) of Taige Tech-367N defoamer in 2K PU, alkyd resin (PU), and 1K coating systems has reached the international leading level. We suggest that when selecting defoamers, you should take into account the characteristics of your own product system and cost-benefit analysis.
