Technical Platform Established, Revenue Growing Rapidly
In November 2011, at the 16th China International Coatings Exhibition, Taiga Additives unveiled more than 10 new additive technologies at its dedicated booth, including: rapid mirror-finish leveling agents, controlled-polymerization block-type superdispersants, reactive silicone additives, anti-graffiti additives, hyperbranched polymer adhesion promoters, and water-based adhesion promoters for inorganic substrates. The performance of these products was recognized by customers in industries such as coatings and inks, composite materials, and specialty materials. That same year, the company completed two projects funded by the Shanghai Innovation Fund, and several of its achievements were granted international patents.
  • 2008
Expanding into the South China market and entering the high-end silicone additives sector
In October 2008, Taiga Additives established Foshan Taiga Polymer Technology Co., Ltd. in Shunde, Guangdong—known as the “Hometown of Coatings in China”—to establish a foothold in South China. That same year, the company entered into a strategic partnership with Dow Corning, a U.S.-based silicone company, in the field of high-end silicone additives, and established technical and economic cooperation relationships with the U.S.-based Momentive Performance Materials Group and Fudan University, among others. This created a “dual-drive” model combining “R&D in China” with “world-class materials,” and the company filed nearly 10 patent applications.
  • 2005-2006
    The Birth of TAIGA
In 2005, Dr. Tian Junxiang launched his startup in Shanghai and assembled a team of overseas-returned technical experts with R&D experience at multinational chemical companies. At that time in China, he charted a path that was not necessarily the easiest but had far-reaching implications—building the company on technology, sustaining it through R&D, and developing truly high-tech specialty polymer additives.
In March 2006, Shanghai Taiga Polymer Technology Co., Ltd. (Taiga Additive / TAIGA ADDITIVE) was officially registered and established. With the primary goal of applying the latest advancements in polymer science to the chemical industry and embracing “Professionalism Creates Miracles” as its corporate culture, the company laid the foundation for the “Taiga Polymer” brand.
