Rheological Additives
Rheological additives are a class of additives used to control the “shear-viscosity-time” rheological behavior of liquids. By adding rheological additives, the fluid properties at different shear rates can be controlled, thereby addressing issues such as sagging, edge collapse, and settling during prolonged storage when applying slurries to vertical surfaces. Tiger rheological additives primarily include polyurea-based, polyamide wax-based, associative polyurethane (HEUR), and hydrophobic-modified alkali-swellable (HASE/ASE) types. An excellent rheological solution does not simply involve “thickening,” but rather achieves a synergistic balance between yield stress, shear thinning index, and structural recovery rate to simultaneously bring sag resistance, sedimentation resistance, leveling, and spray quality within a controllable range. Generally, formulations require a combination of two rheological additives with different mechanisms to perform their respective functions in different shear zones. TAIGA Additives offers a wide selection of rheological additives and provides customized solutions.
