News Category: Company News

Preface : In the paint industry, leveling agent is an indispensable additive, whose core mission is to eliminate surface defects such as brush marks, roller prints, orange peel, etc. generated during the construction process, and help the paint form a smooth, flat, and high gloss perfect coating after curing. Therefore, Tech-100A non silicon leveling agent has emerged, with excellent compatibility, low foam stability, and no risk of re coating, widely used in high-end industrial coatings, automotive coatings, and other fields

1. Product positioning and advantageous features
Traditional silicone leveling agents have high leveling efficiency, but often come with uncontrollable side effects such as foam stabilization, affecting recoating properties, and easy shrinkage. Even if the chosen silicone leveling agent is already very mild, risks still exist and cannot be completely avoided~

But if there is an "ultra efficient non silicon leveling agent" that achieves good leveling performance at a low addition amount (0.3%), can effectively reduce the surface tension of the system, and promote rapid leveling of the coating before curing, how should you choose it?

We suggest you try the full flow leveling agent

Tech-100A

Tech-100A is an "ultra efficient leveling agent" with wide applicability, low risk, and no compatibility issues such as shrinkage caused by the introduction of new additives. It has a perfect leveling experience and embodies the understanding of TAIGA 19 years of leveling agent experience

2. Application Fields and Scope of Application
Tech-100A leveling agent has a wide range of applications, covering high-end industrial fields, and is particularly suitable for system formulations with very demanding requirements for paint film surfaces. For example :

High end car repair paint : requires excellent long wave leveling and high clarity to achieve the original car paint effect.

UV curable coating : endows the glossy paint film with clear and fog free properties.

Electronic product shell coating : It is still necessary to achieve a uniform and flat film surface on complex surfaces.

And any existing product leveling effect that fails to meet the requirements requires a formula that seeks technological breakthroughs

3. System performance analysis
There are many modified acrylic leveling agents on the market. We have selected a classic and high-performance international representative product in this field for horizontal evaluation experiments. We will evaluate the comprehensive performance of four acrylic leveling agents - Teg additives Tech-100A, Tech-100, Tech-158 and international competitors - in four typical industrial coating systems

3.1 Testing System and Content

The testing system covers most application scenarios of industrial coatings, including :

Two component hydroxy acrylic acid system (2K PU) : a representative of high-performance topcoats and gloss oils, with high requirements for flatness, glossiness, and clarity.

PU Alkyd resin system : Traditional decorative coatings are cost sensitive and require good versatility of additives.

Epoxy resin system (Epoxy 128) : widely used in primers and anti-corrosion paints, with a focus on the compatibility of leveling agents and their impact on interlayer adhesion.

Single component system (1K) : such as nitro paint, thermoplastic acrylic paint, etc., with diverse curing mechanisms, is a good scenario for testing the universality of leveling agents.

Key evaluation indicators : compatibility, foam stability, leveling effect

3.2 Main performance testing

☑ Compatibility : A 'basic assessment' passed by all employee

In the four major systems (2K, 1K, epoxy, and alkyd), the compatibility of the four leveling agents showed no difference from the blank sample. This is a very important conclusion

TAIGA's three products have a high degree of matching with international products in terms of polarity and solubility parameters of various resins, which meets the prerequisite for being a "universal" non silicon leveling agent. They will not introduce new compatibility issues and avoid surface defects caused by the additives themselves. For users, there is no need to worry about compatibility risks in different formulation systems, simplifying procurement and formulation management

☑ Stability of bubbles: a common challenge that is difficult to avoid
The experimental results showed that the addition of leveling agent to the light oil did not significantly increase the foam stability except for the epoxy system, which is not easy in highly compatible systems

This is because polymer acrylic leveling agents exert their leveling effect by introducing polar groups and non-polar segments into their molecular chains. This amphiphilic structure inevitably prevents the merging and rupture of bubbles. In 2K, 1K, and alcohol acid systems, even in blank samples, stable foaming phenomena occur. In terms of instantaneous defoaming, it is recommended to use defoamers

☑ Leveling effect: significant differences in extreme testing

After meeting the conditions of compatibility and instability, the leveling performance is the most core and distinguishable part of this comparative experiment. To compare the differences in leveling, we conducted spray testing with only 0.3% added to 2K varnish. The ranking of rapid leveling effects is as follows :

Tech-100A>Tech-158>International competitors Tech-100>Blank

The excellent leveling performance of Tech-100A and Tech-158 is attributed to their higher efficiency in reducing surface tension or more optimized migration speed. They can reach the surface of the paint film faster and evenly distribute, forming a more uniform "film" on the surface of the paint film, thereby more effectively driving the flow of paint and eliminating orange peel

4. Summary

This comparative experiment clearly demonstrates the significant progress of TAIGA's additive technology, and Tech-100A proves TAIGA's product originality and leading technical strength in performance. The Chinese additive industry is shifting from "following" to "running in parallel" and entering a new stage of "leading" in certain fields. TAIGA will provide downstream customers with more diverse choices, more optimized costs, and stronger supply chain security guarantees.

The Tech-100A's perfect leveling experience is a precise game of efficiency, cost, and effectiveness, and TAIGA provides important decision-making basis for this game. We are willing to establish a deep cooperation mechanism with our clients, explore new industries and demands in depth, and achieve new breakthroughs together
