1、 Why is TAIGA Tech-5366 stable?
Tech-5366 is a modified polyester copolymer containing acidic groups, which is based on TAIGA's latest polyester synthesis process. As a new generation high-performance super dispersant, this type of polymer dispersant is rare in the market. Generally, the negatively charged oxygen on the surface of alkaline inorganic substances ionizes through the head group and adsorbs with the Tech-5366 acidic group, stably wrapping around the surface of the pigment
① Accurate anchoring of acidic groups
Unlike the amine anchoring groups of conventional polyester dispersants on the market, the acidic groups of TAIGA Tech-5366 ionize negatively in solvents and can form ionic bonds with inorganic pigment surfaces (usually positively charged, such as titanium dioxide and iron red) through electrostatic attraction. The adsorption energy is 5-10 times that of general hydrogen bonds, greatly avoiding powder flocculation during storage

② Three dimensional defense of modified polyester chain
The solvation layer is a protective layer formed by the extension of the solvent chain segments of the dispersant adsorbed on the surface of particles in the medium, which prevents particle aggregation through steric hindrance effect. Its thickness directly affects dispersion stability, and it is generally believed that the solvation layer needs to reach 8-9 nm or more to effectively resist van der Waals forces and prevent flocculation. Under high temperature conditions, the difficulty of stability increases exponentially with the decrease in the fineness of inorganic particles

Tech-5366 polyester long chains can fully stretch in solvents, and with its high molecular weight, a thicker solvation layer can be formed on the surface of inorganic powders. The entropy repulsion effect (steric hindrance) prevents pigment particles from approaching, further improving steric hindrance efficiency and effectively suppressing Brownian motion. Space steric hindrance is more resistant to electrolyte interference than charge repulsion, and can maintain product performance without failure under high temperature, grinding, and high shear forces

③ Intelligent response of block copolymers
Thanks to TAIGA's advanced polymer synthesis technology, Tech-5366 has achieved molecular level zoning design in its structure, resulting in a narrower molecular weight distribution and better stability. Realize non-interference between the anchoring segment and the solvation segment in the liquid phase, maximize efficiency, and dynamically adjust the chain segment conformation in the slurry to adapt to different polar solvents. Not only does it adapt to solvents of different polarities, but the dynamic equilibrium of dispersants is crucial during the transition from liquid to solid phase

2. TAIGA Tech-5366 Stability Test
① Matte polyester amino paint
We selected dispersed matte powder in a polyester amino resin system and used a high-temperature curing process of baking at 180 ℃ for 30 minutes. We focused on comparing the performance of liquid coatings containing Tech-5366 after 7 days of thermal storage at 50 ℃ (simulating long-term storage or transportation environment). The basic formula for testing is as follows :

The comparison before and after thermal storage is as follows :
In the formula, 1% Tech-5366 achieves a viscosity change of less than 0.5% before and after thermal storage, and the viscosity is stable

In the formula, the glossiness of 1% Tech-5366 remains unchanged before and after thermal storage, and the extinction effect is stable

Scrape the coating containing Tech-5366 onto the tinplate, and after 180 ℃/30min, the surface leveling is excellent, the matte powder is arranged well, there are no white spots, and the surface remains consistent before and after thermal storage, with stable surface effect

Before thermal storage (left) and after thermal storage (right)
After thermal storage, there is no obvious stratification or sedimentation/agglomeration, and it has good storage stability

Hot storage for one week without settling or layering
② Saturated polyester white paste
We used a polyester resin system to disperse titanium dioxide powder and employed a long-term high-temperature curing process. We focused on comparing the performance of liquid coatings containing Tech-5366 after 7 days of thermal storage at 50 ℃ (simulating long-term storage or transportation environments). The basic formula for testing is as follows :

Tech-5366 achieves a viscosity change of less than 0.5% before and after thermal storage of 60% titanium dioxide slurry, with stable viscosity

Tech-5366 achieves unchanged glossiness of 60% titanium dioxide slurry before and after thermal storage

Before thermal storage (left) and after thermal storage (right)

Excellent fluidity after thermal storage
Scrape the coating containing Tech-5366 onto the tinplate, and after high-temperature curing, the surface effect is excellent with high whiteness. The whiteness remains consistent before and after heat storage, and the surface effect is stable
③ Saturated polyester iron-based pigment paste
We selected a saturated polyester resin system to disperse iron oxide red and iron oxide yellow, and used a high-temperature curing process of 180 ℃+30 minutes. We focused on comparing the performance of liquid coatings containing Tech-5366 after 7 days of thermal storage at 50 ℃ (simulating long-term storage or transportation environments). The basic formula for testing is as follows :

The viscosity change of Tech-5366 dispersed iron-based pigment before and after thermal storage is less than 0.5%, and the viscosity is stable

The glossiness of the Tech-5366 dispersed iron-based pigment remained basically unchanged before and after thermal storage
Scrape the coating containing Tech-5366 onto the tinplate (wet film 40um), cure at 180 ℃ for 30 minutes, and the surface effect is excellent. The surface effect remains consistent before and after thermal storage, and the surface effect is stable

After mixing 10 grams of saturated polyester white paste and 1 gram of saturated iron based pigment paste evenly, the float color condition was tested after one week. The color difference of iron red paint was △ E ≤ 0.2, and the color difference of iron yellow paint was △ E=≤ 0.35. There was no obvious float color visible in the can, and the anti float color performance was stable

3. The product's own resistance to yellowing
In order not to affect the whiteness, many customers test the yellowing of the dispersant itself at high temperatures before conducting application experiments, in order to preliminarily screen titanium dioxide dispersants. For this purpose, Tiger Additive has identified three main structural reasons why dispersants are prone to yellowing at high temperatures :

Tech-5366, as a new generation super dispersant from TAG Heuer, minimizes the addition and contamination of the above-mentioned functional groups. With the support of advanced polymerization technology, its yellowing resistance is significantly stronger than other acidic dispersants, and its molecular structure is stable!

Compared to ammonium salt dispersants, the white coating produced by Tech-5366 has a lower b-value (b=-5.2), a more blue phase, significantly improved visual whiteness, and increased glossiness (115 °)

4. Summary
Tech-5366, as a new generation high-performance polyester dispersant for TAIGA, forms strong ionic bonds with inorganic powders through acidic groups for adsorption (adsorption energy can reach 5-10 times that of hydrogen bonds), and uses modified polyester long chains to construct a thicker solvation layer. It resists high temperature, high shear force, and electrolyte interference through steric hindrance, achieving super stability
Tech-5366 performs exceptionally well in harsh applications and is particularly suitable for dispersing titanium dioxide and iron-based pigments. The viscosity change before and after thermal storage is less than 0.5%, and the viscosity is stable, the glossiness is stable, and the anti floating color is stable
Tech-5366 combines environmental protection and whiteness improvement. It does not contain PFAS, benzene solvents, or organotin, giving the paint film a blue white phase and significantly enhancing glossiness. The product itself has good resistance to yellowing, making it suitable for high-temperature curing process slurries
